The CPU consumption is significantly reduced due to the fact that the tracking is taking place in the device instead of on your computer with a webcam. You aren’t tethered to sitting in perfect view of a webcam, for one.
Obviously if the plugin already works with the camera, one must ask, ‘Why would I get the device?’ There is actually quite a long list of reasons. I found myself taking my headphones off constantly, in a bit of disbelief that the sound I was hearing wasn’t playing ‘out loud’. However, I was able to test it with the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro’s. Which brings me to one of my biggest disappointment. It’s works without the head tracker but you need the right headphones. It’s a plugin based off their NX Head Tracker Technology.
